MVHS Vision for Summer Reading
The purpose of summer reading is to engage learners and reinforce skills outside of the classroom.
It should also promote the joy of reading.
It should also promote the joy of reading.
We encourage all Mt. Vernon High School students entering grades 9-12 to engage in reading over the summer.
The summer reading project is not mandatory, but students who complete a BINGO (complete a row, column, or diagonal line on the card) will receive a free assignment pass to be used during the 2020-2021 school year.
To complete a BINGO, you must read 5 different works (or 4 works plus the free space), 1 for each category in the row, column, or diagonal line. Be prepared to share your BINGO list with your teacher at the start of the school year.

Works can be accessed through one of the many electronic resources available to MVHS students, as well as the Fairfax County Public Library. Feel free to consider the recommended titles or any works of your choosing.
A variety of formats are available including digital (ebook) or audio download. While the school library is closed for the summer, print titles may be obtained from the public library's curbside pick up service.
